The Savaroi za Athalon are an exoteranian race, which has been allied with humanity for a long time. Their races name translates to „Children of first live“, refering to their home-planet Athalon, whereas their home „planet“ is actualy a gas giant, orbited by several, habitable moons. They can travel between these Moons using Jumper-Ships, which are even until today their only means of space travel. For simplicities sake, the members of the race are often simply refered to as „Savaroi“.
The morphology of the average Savaroi resembles that of a human in many aspects. However, the body of Savaroi is covered with fur, they have tails, and their faces resemble those of a sabre-tooth tigre.
Due to their highly elitary social structure and artifical, genetical selection, the Gene-Pool of the Savaroi is highly split, and individuals are allocated to one of two groups. The „Feral“ Savaroi represent a less advanced and more backward genetcal code. They have remained in an earlier state of evelution and have a more rugged and robust anatomy, and apear a lot wilder than their conspecifics. The „Perior“ Savaroi feature a more filigrane and fine anatomy than the Ferals, und have a finer fur and smaller Sabre-teeth. They appear more civilized and evolved, and are often considered to be more intelligent than Ferals.
Savaroi are very aware of their social ranks, which leads to this extremely split society. Their thinking in class and rank has led so far, that their gene-pool has divided this much. Ferals only deal with Ferals, and Periors only deal eith Periors. However, since politics and scientifical progress are mainly handled by Periors, the attitude that Periors are the superior race is predominant.
Technologically, the Savaroi are less advanced then the humans, and thus they are permanantly striving for maintaining a good relationship with them in order to profit from their advanced technology. In order to symbolize the bond of their races, the Savaroi have even adapted famous idols and personalities from human history, thus glorifying famous human Scientists and Researchers. They also copy scientifical scales and theories from humans as a tribute to their work.
In analogy to the human angular-scale, the Savaroi have developed the GVR (Genetical Value Rating) on a scale from 1 to 360, which indicates the affilition of a Savaroi as either a Feral or a Perior. The scale reaches from 1 (ultimately Feral) to 360 (ultimately Perior). The number is determined roughly on a genetical Test shortly after birth, and re-calculated later upon enrolment, based uppon outer appearence and intelligence. The number then becomes final, and can not be changed anymore.
The GVR is used in almost any situation to evaluate an individuals worth and credibility. It even goes so far as to determine the wages paid for work, as a low GVR is a juridicaly valid argument for paying a worker less. In the court of law, the GVR determines the credibility of a witnisses testimony, as higher ranked individuals are trusted more often. If it is If it is word against word, it is not benefit of the doubt, but rather benefit of the higher GVR. Savaroi can even be excluded from certain positions for having a too low GVR.
The GVR is also affacting the Savarois private live quite drasticaly, as 2 Savaroi with GVRs that have a difference of 12 or more are outlawes from marriing or having children.
The laws of the Savaroi are, compared to the human laws, extremely outdated and harsh, as in the court of law, punishment and death sentance are atill common practice. Also, the freedom of opinion, speach and religion is far less present than in human society. Controversial or unfitting behaviour can easily lead to harsh punishment.
Savaroi are a bit stronger and sturdy than humans, but tend to be less agile and less intelligent. They also have a slightly shorter life expactancy. The more feral a Savaroi is, the more grave these differences become.
