The Mission

Serene was quite happy, when she realized, that all her worries were for nothing. There was no need for her, to give a single shot. In an instant all the Gorn-soldiers were dead and... Cin Varencegal did once again complain for nothing worth it. She mocked her expression secretly. Anyway it was Darwins Job, the job of a sniper to shoot from far away, while it wasn't the job of a driver after all. Corwin ordered her to drive the transporter. Fine, this will most likely be the most boring part of the whole mission. Just driving a lame old Transporter. She glared towards the Machine, then jumped off of the shuttle and ran to the drivers door. She opened the door and jumped on a fluffy grey seat. Irasem already sat next to her. She waited for the others to gat in the back part of the car and meanwhile investigated the divers cabin. She felt as if she sat in an old human machine from 19-something. Somehow frustrated she watched the tachometer. Converted in mph the Transporter wouldn't drive over 100 mph. How boring... she needed a moment to oversee the technology behind the old-fashioned buttons and levers. The Motor roared and she felt the air running into the fat dark airbags underneath Transporter, when she started the Hovercraft. She looked in Irasems direction. It didn't take long for her to have a feeling for here new wheels. "Would you hand me one of those." she pointed at the MP's in her back.

There we go: Gornsplattergoremoviestuff, they were dead, and not only killed by my beloved Savaroigirl. Nevertheless she thanked everyone for doing nothing but noone seemed to feel concerned about this.
I followed the leader and he demanded me to jump into the transporter - so I did.

"Sergeant Ramus, you might be interested in this", he said and indeed this looked nice, and more like the stuff I like. I took the mecharm and started analyzing it. Then I looked over the plans.
"Sir, Ah want to keep this", showing the mecharmthing and if possible I would keep it, even if the Boss says Nay.

Corwin shrugged "Well...I guess you can if it survives the mission" He said, while handing Bianco one of the MPs.
"The Caliber is a bit bigger, thus you deal a bit more damage and have a better range...plus what Irasem said" he said to Darwin.
"Now get ready guys, we're about to move on"

As everyone was ready the Convoy started to drive again and the Shuttles flew out of sight.

As they reached the facility two guards stepped out of the entrance and talked to the driver of the first transporter (Not Bianco) then the big Gates opened and the three hovercrafts drove into the Facility.

"Get ready to start the Party" Corwin said to all via comradio and checked his Weapon again.

The Gorn walked towards the transporter, three to each rear hatch and one to each co driver door and one to each driver door.

The one at Biancos Door knocked at the door as a sign for her to lower the shadowed side window. He spoke something in quick Gorn(for Irasem: "lower the window and step out of the Transporter we will search your cargo")

With these words the Gorn at the rear hatch opened it.

Corwin himself handed a Garax MP to Bianco and right after Irasem got on his seat the convoy started moving. The driver of the first vehicle managed to get them through the first gate, but now it was control time. Several Gorn headed for the hovercrafts. One knocked on Bianco’s window and demanded: “Lower the window and step out of the transporter; we will search your cargo!”
Irasem quickly translated it for Bianco, not that it was actually important what the guy said. At the same time he heard the rear hatch opening – his squad mates would deal with it.
Now Irasem grabbed his new MP and lowered his own window. “Good night”, he said pulling the trigger.

Darwin was still considering what Corwin had said about that MP. Seemed like it was superior in every aspect, but then why didn't the humans use this as their standard-MP? She was still sceptical about this, as Irasem started raiding the other MPs for ammo-clips. Well, what good would her new MP do her if there was no ammo left for it? She dropped the Gorn-MP back onto the weapon stash with a slightly disgusted expression on her face, just as if the weapon was below her dignity.

As they arrived inside the base, Corwin radioed everyone: "Get ready to start the party:" Darwin just glared at him again. Seriously, 'Party'? Couldn't this guy ever be at least a bit serious? This was no party, this was just degrading busywork, and Darwin was most definitly not enjoying it.
Anyways, the rear hatch was opening, and she heard Irasem talking to another Gorn. She didn't get the first part of the conversation, but she got the part when her Squadmate pulled the trigger and dropped that Gorn at the window. She was enjoyng THAT part!
Now, she had to concentrate on her own battle. Corwin had managed to get them into a 3 on 3 gunfight at point-blank range with no cover. Sounded fair at first, if it wasn't for the fact that their oponents were 3 bulky-as-shit reptile-things and they were a human, a mechanic and a sniper, the later two being as unsuited for this kind of situation as possible.
Darwin actualy felt like leaving Corwin alone on this one and letting him deal with the trouble he got them into alone. But well... sadly, that was irrational, because those Gorn would just straight out execute her and Ramus if they didn't shoot them first, so just helping as good as she could was the most logical reaction here. She just raised her Ezok Arms MP and fired away at the first Gorn that got into her sight.

She didn't understand a single word, when they spoke to her. The only thing she could understand was, that Gorn Language was kind of the most unerotic tongue, she'd ever heard. However even if she couldn't translate, what the guy said, she knew what he was most likely to mean. "My greatest pleasure", she said, though the gorn might not hear a word through the closed window. Her neighbour grabbed his MP as did Serene, while lowering her window. "Nice day, isn't it?", she started speaking in english, "what about having some fun?", she asked the Gorn, while she did not directly look at him and thus seemed to pay no attention at all, while she was, rising her MP behind the closed door. Irasem shot the guy that moment. Well, than that's kind of the start signal, she thought, lifting her MP the last bit and pulling the trigger.

Again I felt the anger raising in me. The party started and the position of mine I disliked completely. I hated it to be encaged and surounded by rootfood. I took this weapon I wore with me and started to play with the other kids. Bang Bang.

The Gorn at the front doors fell like they had been struck by a lightning.
No one could see which bullet killed which Gorn but anyways, the 3 Gorn at the rear hatch were also quite the opposite of healthy.

"good, now let's clean the room and get a bit orientation" Corwin said and stepped out of the transporter(We're at the middle transporter.)

The Aliens at the other hovercrafts were already dead; the only living enemies were the door guards which now opened fire. Irasem and bianco were quite protected by the front windows and thus had a good cover, but the Gorn were too far away to be executed precise by a few little MP rounds.

But soon the guards lay on the floor too, because in the left truck there were a sniper in a good position. Komarov.

As every enemy wasn't alive anymore the whole crew assembled in the front of the middle truck.

"So far so good" Corwin said. he had found a map at one of the walls.

"Vadim, take your team and get control over onme of the cannons, see if you're able to eliminate the other turrets with it, then disable yours and reinforce my team, we’ll infiltrate the main hall in the meantime...I want to know what they're doing here. The rest will guard the main gate and the trucks."
Now Corwin turned to his crew. "Search the bodies for useful things, but don't take too long...I have a bad feeling about this place..." He said.

The Gorn fell like flies without any problems. Everything went well... almost too well, Darwin thought. Probably she had underestimated the element of surprise they were profiting from, but yet she felt like it all went just a tad too well.
Pretty sullen and vigilant about anything that might seem just a little bit off, she got out of the transporter and carefully musterd her surroundings.

Only a short time later, Corwin returned with a map he had found, and started giving out orders. Darwin stared at the map in disbelief. Was this seriously happening? They had not shown any maps to the common soldiers, which was already somewhat odd, but even Corwin didn't own one? Darwin conclued, that the military actualy knew absolutely nothing about this place, if they weren't even able to get a map of the place, yet they had decided to break into the place gun-blazing and essentialy lay anything they found here to waste. She couldn't help but feel that she had been made a part in some sick and perverted political scheme that had absolutely nothing to do with what any of the officials would be willing to admit, and she loathed being a pawn in someone elses game.

Shortly after, Corwin gave his crew their orders: "Search the bodies for useful things, but don't take too long...I have a bad feeling about this place..."
"No shit?" Darwin hissed sarcasticaly, not even trying to speak quietly. "A bad feeling? I wonder where that might come from!"
She did not start searching the bodies as she was ordered to, she knew when it was dangorous to refuse an order and when it was save to do so. She would rather wait to see Corwins reaction to her inappropriate comment.

They all fell like chessmen. That was just too easy, she thougt, glaring in the direction, were the guy, who shot them all, must be. But she couldn't see him from her position. She left the hovercraft only few seconds, before Corvin gave advice, to search the dead. Well okay... She searched the one, she thought she had killed.
While searching she heard Darwin. Does she ridicule the captain? No way. That has to be the first of Darwin cin Varencegals several equally suitable and delightful character-traits, Serene thought was somehow likable. That could be the beginning of a valuable friendsh.... no ... she thought smiling ... unlikely.
She found a ID-card in the gorn's vest. Not bad she thought, and spun the card in her hand, before sliding it in her own pocket. Afterwards she found a pistol and fitting Munition. The pistol was a strange thing, with a blade under the muzzle. Pretty cool thing, she thought, strange but definitely her style.
She went to corwin. "Found an ID-Card - Captain"

"Gottanother on", I said, "and this funky written Diary Tab. Ah think Ah gift this to our dear Gornboy here." I showed that book to Irasem while I checked if anyone of these rootfooded Gorn is still alive - you never kno'.

It didn’t take long to kill all Gorn, the guards at the door were apparently taken out by a sniper. Irasem stepped out of the hovercraft and checked the area for other enemies, just out of habit. There were none around.
In the meantime, Corwin had found a map and showed it around proudly. When even the Captain didn’t own a map of this place, whatever they were going to find here had to be more than “top secret”. Irasem wondered what all this could be about, a tactical weapon? Or a way to mass-produce food? Whatever it was, it had to be really important.
Then Corwin started giving new orders. Their squad was told to search the bodies, what didn’t make much sense to Irasem. Why search common soldiers? They usually carry nothing with them but an ID, weapons and some ammo. We seem to be very desperate to find any tiny bit of information about this place.
Cin Varencegal was bitchy again, but Irasem kept ignoring her. Before he could pick a Gorn to search, Ramus handed a tab-like thingy to him. It appeared to be some kind of diary. “This certainly is interesting, thank you”, he said and went to show it to Corwin.
“Captain, Ramus has found this, sir. It’s a diary, I think. All entries are locked with a password except the last one, which was written two minutes before our arrival.” Then he read it out aloud:

Log 1439:
Finally, Jackson is gone and only his American money is left…well and this…this thing…I have a fucking bad feeling about this…we shouldn’t have scum like him giving orders. Without his technologies I would crush him…but he has superior arms…and this thing…what is it? Looks like a storing room…but what’s in it? All the energy, which we’re pumping in it? What for?
Anyways, transporters are coming…news stuff…yay…

“What do you make of this, sir?”

Corwin decided to ignore Darwin and let her bitch around, the others had already found, what he was looking for.
"Thanks sergeant Bianco" he took the ID card "so...now we should have access to the servers and other terminals...everyone get an ID card...you might need it." he said and gave the card back to Bianco.

Then Irasem came with the Tab.
"American money?...that doesn't sound too good...that sounds definitely bad...We have to hurry, grab an ID and follow me!" He said. In this moment there were the sounds of explosions...3 explosions...so Komarov had done his job. "Vadim leave your cannon active...we might need it" Corwin said via intercom.
Then he went inside the server rooms, and shot the two Gorn scientists in the room. "Check your gear...I don't trust this situation..." He said as he was looking through a window into the main hall. it was empty...no Gorn in sight...only a few crates and a strange capsule in the middle.

He gave his team time to check everything and suddenly the Cruiser made an attempt to contact the Team. "Hurry guys, there are drop ships on the way to you!"

"Is everyone ready? We move in!" He said and opened the door.


They all went in and as soon as they stood inside there were strange noises.
“Corwin…I can’t say I’m pleased to see you” said some…Voice. It wasn’t out of any speakers…but in the matter of the air.
Suddenly the Capsule opened at the top.
“You’ve disturbed me in my sleep…too bad, now I’m ugly” The creepy voice said one more.
Corwins posture stiffened. “You?...” He gasped, as a person rose out of the capsule floating in the air.
“I…I killed you! I killed you back on Barkesh!” He nearly screamed, with terror in his eyes.
“Huh…did you really thought, you could kill a God?” Abruptly, not really seeable for the human (nor Gorn or Tetran) eye, the Man stood before the Captain, leaving the path between him and the capsule with a glow and a massive heat wave was emitted (someone with scientific knowledge could guess, that the air in the path was ionized.
Without giving anyone time to comprehend, the Enemy hauled out and punched Corwin in the chest, letting him fly away and crushing into the Doors behind them(they had closed themselves, as the capsule opened), knocking them out of the wall. Cowrin now just lay on the floor in the middle of the Server room.
The Foe “teleported” back to the capsule, where he floated.
“Well…I’m Hermes…and you are?” He said, grinning with his ugly face.

So, euer Captain ist ausgefallen, also habt ihr keine befehle mehr. ihr habt einen unbekannten gegner vor euch, findet raus, wie man ihn besiegen kann und erledigt ihn, jede Runde werde ich die Karte updaten. Nutzt was ihr findet, die Armoury ist noch unerforscht, vielleicht findet ihr dort etwas, das euch hilft?. have fun. wenn ihr es nciht schafft, bekommt ihr alle paar Runden Tipps

Darwin watched in awe, as that strage guy thrusted her Captain through the doors. Could a human survive that? She didn't really care, or maybe she even hoped that Corwin didn't, but what was more important now was that they were one man short, which was definitly bad in their situation at hand.
“Well…I’m Hermes…and you are?” the stranger introduced himself after teleporting through the room. Well, this guy was definitly strange, and the intimidating kind of strange on top of that, but at least he wanted to talk. Putting all that strange stuff he and Corwin had been talking about before aside, Darwin took the initiative and answered to him. If their captain was out, she wanted to make sure she was recognized as the next-highest-rank soldier among them, and also she didn't think it was smart to toss away a chance for diplomacy against a foe like that. "Sergeant Darwin cin Varencegal, earthern military forces and descendant of the noble Varencegal-bloodline of Athalon. Who exactly are you?" It was important to have that guy believe they were equal-ranked, even though she had a notion that that might be hard with someone who entitled himself a god. Still, if he thought they were inferior to him, he'd probably just kill them, and that was to be prevented at any cost.

Corwin was out and we were on our own. The man who checkmated Corwin introduced himself as Hermes. Sargeant Darwin cin Varencegal started to speak with him, maybe to solve this without any stress. I started to scan the libary on my Wikipedia App for “Hermes”.
There were many entrys but I doubted that this guy was the owl which belonged to Percy Weasly in Harry Potter, likewise he said he was a god I looked up for the next entry, but he didnt really looked similar to this guy. I continued looking up the libary.

Serene could only watch, while this Hermes-guy knocked out their Captain. How embarrassing... The highest ranked Officer among them probably killed... An unfamiliar sensation of pride within her was offended. She instinctively made a single inconspicuous step between Hermes and Corwin. Hermes... The name didn't really fit, she thought, remembering the old paintings from ancient times of the young god with wings on his sandals, who was supposed to bring messages from one god to another.
Darwin introduced herself. Did she try to get "Hermes" respect? Well, if she did, that was most likely to fail. It did not even lead Serene to respect Darwin even a bit. She glanced at one of the fire extinguisher on her right. Well, maybe, if she reached it, she could take "Hermes" sight and run away ... Or even help them to a better position. Running away was somehow not what she wanted, also because they couldn't possibly save Corwin as well. Her eyes went to the crate in front of Irasem, then to the two near Darwin and Ramus.

It didn’t take long and they moved on, straight to whatever they were looking for. What they found wasn’t quite what had been expected, according to Corwin’s behaviour. The voice really was creepy and this floating guy... But what freaked Irasem out most was seeing the Captain panicking. “I…I killed you! I killed you back on Barkesh!”, he screamed, his voice nearly cracking.
The next second that strange guy stood right in front of Corwin and hit him so hard he flew straight back into the server room. Before Irasem had a chance to react to what had just happened, the guy was back at his capsule again, introducing himself as Hermes. “…and you are?”
What the fuck is he playing at? Punch one of your enemies through the next door and then start some small talk?!
As Irasem was trying to work out a plan what to do now, cin Varencegal already took action. How someone could be that arrogant, he really didn’t know. He wouldn’t have cared either, but right now he was slightly afraid of cin Varencegal pissing Hermes off.
Everything in Irasem screamed to go check out how badly Corwin was injured. This might not be the best idea, though, since Hermes didn’t seem to like the Captain too much and to turn the conversation into a fight right away didn’t sound like a good idea. Scanning his surroundings Irasem caught sight of two crane-like devices to the left and right of Hermes. There had to be a control panel somewhere… not in here, apparently.
For now, Irasem decided to wait for Hermes’ reaction to cin Varencegal. Maybe she’d distract him enough for him to leave and check out Corwin’s well-being…

Hermes eyeballed Darwin "...Humanity has to be quite desperate...I didn't know they were employing furballs now..." He shook his head und teleported towards Ramus, now standing right in front of him with the ionized path behind him. "Nu uh, eyes on the show mate" He said and grabbed with his right (the armoured) hand after the Tablet, Because he wore a pointy armour glove, this grab wasn't healthy for the device...leaving it with 5 nice holes. Hermes teleported back to the Capsule, leaving Ramus with his destroyed Tablet.
"Well...who I am?...Hermes, Messenger of the gods...These Roman idiots called me Mercury maybe you know that name"

"Yes sorry to put ya off", I awnsered, pathetical looking at my tablet, "but Ah think Ah got some duty to absolve, now that ya destroyed ma toy."
I threw the tablet on the ground(!!) and moved in the direction of Corwin.
"Lemme pass, Ah'm a doctor - not a spectator."

On her noble attempt at diplomacy, that strange dude just answered: "...Humanity has to be quite desperate...I didn't know they were employing furballs now..." Darwin was outraged by this! Who did that guy even think he was, talking down to her like that! Didn't she just make clear, that she was someone who was to be treated with proper respect?
There was clearly only one path of action to take here. While Hermes was still busy trashing Ramus' PC, Darwin pulled her MP and aimed it at their opponent. As soon as he had teleported back to his capsule, she pulled the trigger and fired a short salve of projectiles at him. Then, without hesitating, she lunged forward at the crate in front of her to her left, and tried to get into cover.

That was bad. Darwin started to fire in a as it seemed touch of pure disgust due to not being treated respectfully.
Serene pulled her new Pistol and her new MP and ran a few steps to the right, that the Crate in front of Irasem would insulate her from Hermes' sight. With the Pistol she aimed towards Darwin, thus she could fire instantly, if Hermes teleports in front of her. The Pistol she hold tight to her body.

“I didn't know they were employing furballs now.” Irasem couldn’t help himself, he had to grin. Someone’s pretty unimpressed here.
His amusement faded as fast as it had come and he watched Hermes destroying Ramus’ tablet computer. This guy was obviously playing some kind of game with them, since they had not quite a chance to do anything and that really upset him. He was a soldier after all! And it’s not a soldier’s job to stand around doing nothing!
Now Ramus tried to get to Corwin. At least someone in this squad was intelligent enough to care about him. But about in the same moment Cin Varencegal started ruining everything by opening fire at Hermes. What the fuck was she thinking?! She took cover behind one of the crates. That’s awesome, girl. You kinda missed this guy can teleport?
Irasem tried to make the best of it and hurried back into the server room. Maybe Hermes would be too busy playing with the “furball” to care for him now.

Hermes started grinning, as he just dodged the bullets without much effort.
"oh boy...someone's angry here"
He teleported beside the crate, where Darwin hid.
"That idea wasn't particularly good..." he jumped around the corner of the Crate with such a speed, that Darwin had no chance to flee or doge anything.
Hermes kicked her in the chest, but without much effort, so she flew a few meters back, but wasn't knocked out or with any real injuries.

"Jesus", she murmured, when she saw Hermes dodging Darwins bullets. If that's the way it is..., she thought a little spiritless, guess, I don't need to try, whether I've more luck. Thus she didn't shoot at Hermes when he attacked darwin, but used the time to open the Crate in front of her with the knife at her pistol. Useful little thing. She watched Hermes fiercely. She didn't want to fly away as Corwin and Darwin did. She may have given Hermes no reason to hit her, but after her two cowards of ... well okay it kinda was Ramus job to look for Corwin ... so... after her coward of a teammate, Irasem, fled back in the server room, she was the only one left and obviously the next target, if Hermes HAD a next target.
Thus, while opening the crate, she took the MP away and pulled out a knife. If not even DArwin, their so called sniper could hit Hermes... She thought, if Hermes teleportated in her reach to kick her away, she might have better chances with something to cut, than something to shoot.

"Alright Captn Twiggy, lemme see whats wrong with ya" I said lookin after Corwin.
I was made to run because Darwin needed to shoot around her. Lil bubbly beast.
Corwin was knocked out and my useless scanners weren't abe to detect whats wrong with him, so I had to look traditionally which injurys he had. Strange blue sparkle Stuff.. were sparkling on his chest. Nevertheless I was able to detect some broken ribs. I combined that these sparkles had something to do with my not working scanner.
"So what do we got hiya?" Where does this energy blocking field come from. Thats more intresting but first I gotto stabilize this guy.
